Our Lives in Pink is a new jukebox musical to the music of Machine Gun Kelly. This
musical has LGBTQIA+ focused storylines based on real life experiences that the book
writers have lived through. When writing started in January of 2023, the idea was that the musical would be about “nothing” and promoted as Seinfeld meets Rent.

Character 1 (Kye): Character 1 is 22 years old at the start of the show. They are a deaf, male or
female. They attended the same high school as Character 4 and 8 but didn't become friends until
college. They are reserved and skeptical in most situations, but have an underlying drive to be
heard and noticed.
Character 2 (Rowan): Character 2 is 29 and Character 1's inner dialogue/Interpreter.
Non-binary. A vivacious character who does not hold back on anything. They are confident,
funny, outgoing, but humble in the right moments.
Character 3 (Riley): Character 3 is 26 years old. They are a bisexual, gender fluid person. They
are from out of town and met everyone in college. They have been living in the town/city since
graduation. They are naive and always seeking approval. They will say anything to be the center
of attention.
Character 4 (Taylor): Character 4 is 24. They are a gay male. They have been best friends with
Character 8 since high school. Their sophomore year of high school they ran away from home
and moved in with Character 8. They met Character 6 working in the coffee shop by their
college. This character is energetic and wants to be the life of the party, but their insecurity can
come across as anger.
Character 5 (Stevie): Character 5 is 26 years old. They are a lesbian female. They are from out
of town and met everyone in college. They left home after both their parents died and haven't
been back home since. A confident woman who does not hold back for their beliefs. They know
what they want, who they are, and where they are going in life.
Character 6 (Hayden): Character 6 is 29 years old. They are a transgender person. They are
Character 9's older sibling and attended college in their hometown. They met Character 6 at
work. They introduced Character 8 and 9 to each other. They are wise beyond their years and
like to take care of others with tough love.
Character 7 (Dakota): Character 7 is 28 years old. They are a disabled person (disability is
reliant on actor), non-binary. They attended the same high school as Character 1 but didn't
become friends with them and Character 4 and 8 until college. They are unapologetically
themselves and loveable. They are quirky, unconventional, and idiosyncratic.
Character 8 (Jessie): Character 8 is 24 years old. He is a straight male and has been best friends
with Character 4 since high school. He dropped out of college at the end of his junior year. He
has a bit of a romantic past with Character 9. He is a hopeless romantic who does self sabotage
any chance he gets. He has a big heart underneath the masculine mannerisms, but doesn’t show
this often.
Character 9 (Skyler): Character 9 is 25 years old. She's a straight female and Character 6's
younger sister. She attended the same college as all the characters. She can talk a big game, but
when push comes to shove, she often backs down and walks away. She does not let go of things
easily.

Anthony Alterio is on faculty at Ohio University working in the School of Dance and the School of Theater as an Assistant Professor of Instruction. Anthony is a native of Pittsburgh, and began his professional training at The University of Colorado-Boulder, receiving a BA double-majoring in Dance and Psychology and went on to attain an MFA in Dance from the University of Michigan.
